Neurodivergence

Neurodivergence includes neurological differences and developmental conditions such as the autism spectrum, ADHD, ADD, learning differences such as dyslexia and dyscalculia, as well as Tourette syndrome, giftedness and synaesthesia. These neurological differences often come with unique strengths such as deep specialist knowledge, pronounced creativity, unconventional thinking, heightened perception and a strong capacity for enthusiasm.

Our world, however, is often designed for one particular way of thinking, feeling and processing stimuli. When your brain works differently – as is the case, for example, with ADHD, autism or giftedness – everyday life can feel like constantly swimming against the current. Many neurodivergent people have spent years learning to adapt themselves intensely (masking) in order to meet expectations at work, at school or in relationships.

The constant effort of suppressing your own impulses and coping with sensory overload can lead to profound exhaustion, self-doubt or the feeling that there is somehow something “wrong” with you. In my practice, the aim is not to change you or make you fit in. Neurodivergence is not an illness that needs to be cured, but a variation of human experience with its own particular strengths and challenges. Together, we create a protected space in which you can take off the mask. We explore your individual needs, learn to understand your own nervous system better and develop strategies for shaping everyday life in a way that suits your nature and allows you to live your uniqueness freely and with strength.
