Fear of Dogs

Dogs are a completely ordinary part of everyday life in our society. That is exactly what can make a fear of dogs such a significant and often underestimated burden. What is a relaxed walk in the park, a visit to friends or a simple journey to work for others can become an emotionally exhausting ordeal for those affected. The sight of a dog in the distance alone can make the heart race, disrupt breathing and trigger intense panic. A state of constant vigilance often develops: you scan your surroundings, avoid certain places altogether and lose a noticeable degree of quality of life as a result. Feeling misunderstood or ridiculed because of this fear only makes the situation more difficult. A fear of dogs is not something you simply have to live with, and it is certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

In therapy, we proceed very gently and entirely at your own pace. We also have a very special helper available in my practice: my trained therapy dog can accompany us in this work. He gives you a unique opportunity to have new and positive experiences in a completely protected and controlled setting, without any pressure.

Step by step, we learn to understand dogs’ signals while your nervous system, supported by the gentle presence of my dog, learns to return to a sense of safety. You decide at all times how close you want to be and at what pace we proceed, so that you can gradually regain greater ease in everyday life.
