Women in the Menopausal Transition
Menopause is far more than a purely hormonal change in the body – it marks a profound transition in a woman’s life. This change often begins gradually and, alongside physical changes such as hot flushes or sleep problems, can also unsettle emotional balance. During this time, many women suddenly experience unexplained mood swings, greater emotional sensitivity in everyday life, anxiety or a deep exhaustion that feels unfamiliar. At the same time, this phase of life is often marked by major external changes: children grow up and leave home, one’s own parents get older, and questions arise in the mirror or at work about who one wants to be in the second half of life. This phase can be unsettling and can bring grief for what is familiar and now changing. But it can also be a powerful opportunity for reorientation.
In therapy, we make room for all these changes. We sort through the emotional turmoil, reduce the pressure and look together at how you can shape this period of transition in a self-determined, strengthened way and with a new and compassionate view of yourself.
