Dog-Assisted Psychotherapy
Therapy with a dog

“Dogs live in the here and now. They teach us to appreciate the moment and not to make life too complicated.”
– Author unknown

Dog-assisted psychotherapy draws on the calming and opening effect that animals can have on our psyche. The presence of a dog in the room alone can help reduce stress, regulate the nervous system and create an atmosphere of safety and comfort. A dog can act as an emotional icebreaker, help reduce anxiety and often make it easier to engage with difficult therapeutic topics.

Whether through simple proximity, targeted interaction or simply as a calming presence, I aim to involve Ferdinand sensitively and entirely on a voluntary basis in whatever way is appropriate within the therapeutic process.

Who is this service suitable for?

Working with Ferdinand can be a valuable addition when addressing topics such as stress regulation, processing trauma, anxiety, depressive moods or learning to establish healthy boundaries. No previous experience with dogs is required.

What is always important to me is that participation is entirely voluntary and that the needs of everyone involved – yours and Ferdinand’s – are respected.
